Construction and operation of buildings cause almost 40% of global CO2 emissions.
We are a team of passionate individuals who are deeply concerned about the impact of climate change on our planet. Growing up, we witnessed the changing landscape of the Swiss mountains, with disappearing glaciers and moors. The global consequences of climate change are dire, with rising sea levels, species extinction, and devastating fires.
The building sector contributes nearly 40% of global CO2 emissions, and urgent action is needed to combat this. As a team of building engineers, developers and finance experts, we believe that we can make a difference by transforming the industry with sustainable practices and innovative solutions.
Decarbonizing the building sector.
At Scandens, we believe that the decarbonization of the building sector requires CO2 to be considered as a crucial KPI in the early project phases of renovation planning or deciding between new construction and renovation. This can increase complexity and effort, but we are here to simplify the process. Our goal is to make renovation planning easy and efficient, empowering real estate consultants and owners to make informed decisions that are both climate-compatible and financially attractive.
Through our work, we strive to speed up the transition towards a climate-compatible building sector, contributing to a sustainable and livable future. We believe that by providing solutions that reduce the environmental impact of buildings, we can make a positive impact on our planet and future generations.
Be the leading software platform for building renovation planning and decarbonization.
Our vision is to be the leading provider of software technology that enables optimal building decarbonization, making it easy for real estate consultants and owners to reduce the carbon footprint of their buildings. By 2025, we aim to save 10,000 tons of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Switzerland and 700,000 tons of GHG emissions in Europe by 2030.
Planning a renovation and finding the optimal solution has never been easier:

The Scandens co-founders:
For several years, Diego has been working on the question of how to make the building sector climate-compatible. Before founding Scandens, he worked as a project leader at a Swiss engineering company for 4 years, where he personally experienced the manual effort and complexity of traditional energy consulting. Diego holds a Master in Energy Science and Technology from ETH Zurich. In his free time, he loves to exercise, recharge in an ice bath or read a good book.
Dominik has long been concerned with the kingdom of animals and plants and the future viability of our actions. Before founding Scandens, he worked in the banking industry and at a Zurich fintech for 8 years. There, he was involved with product innovation as well as expansion into Europe. Dominik holds a Bachelor of Science from ZHAW and an MBA. After work, he can usually be found at the hockey stadium and in the dojang. Besides Taekwondo, he often is in the mountains and tends to his balcony garden.
Kuba has been exploring how technology can promote sustainable development. Before founding Scandens, he held research positions at ETH Zurich and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he completed his studies in Energy Science and Building Technology. He has worked internationally on decarbonization technologies in both academia and industry. He can often be found reading and sampling what food science has to offer and turning fruit seeds into plants in his garden.
Behind Scandens, there is a great team that brings together expertise in energy modeling, software development, engineering and machine learning:
